NEWBURGH — A 35-year-old man was killed and an 18-year old man was injured in a shooting Saturday night in the City of Newburgh, police said.
Police received a ShotSpotter activation for several rounds fired about 11:15 p.m. in the area of Liberty and Clinton streets, according to a news release from Newburgh Det. Lt. Joseph Burns.
Officers found Almighty Ward, 18, of Newburgh with a gunshot wound to his leg upon arrival, the news release said.
Ward was put in a police vehicle and taken to the Newburgh campus of Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Aned Alberto Alvarado-Baquedano, 35, was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to his neck and was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the release.
