MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Shade Tree Committee is celebrating Arbor Day on Sept. 28 from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. at the Lions Pavilion at Davidge Park in Middletown.

Cornell Cooperative Extension, Orange County will have Master Gardeners available to answer your gardening and tree related questions.

The Orange County Audubon Society, who stewards 5 sanctuaries of bird and wildlife refuge in Orange County, will have information on the kinds of shrubs and trees you can plant to create your own bird friendly habitat.

Mark Beamish, Arborist for Orange & Rockland Utilities will provide informational brochures, and will be able to answer any questions on trees and utility issues.

In addition, there will a “Basics in Pruning” presentation followed by a “How to plant a Tree” demonstration.

Come meet the Middletown Shade Tree Committee, a group of volunteers who are dedicated to planting trees for future generations to enjoy.

Learn about their community projects and volunteer opportunities.

There will be a raffle and light refreshments served. This is a rain or shine event.
