The car community “family” literally felt deflated when we all heard about the passing of Rod Gendron of Fair Oaks on Feb. 12. He was 77.
Anyone who frequented the car shows and cruises in the area know those two vehicles, a 1953 Ford pickup and a 1963 Chevy Biscayne, both painted the exact same two-tone colors, creme and orange, and appropriately given the name “The Creamsicles.”
Rod and his wife, Barb, were always seen at the car shows and cruises. They always went out of their way to come up to me and give me a hug and partake in, what else, car talk. He was so proud of that truck. I spent time with them at the Famous 50s Show and it was always a “hoot.” Rod had such a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face. Everyone in the car “family” would agree.
I am honored to have known him and will certainly never forget him.
Cruise on Rod.
