Anyone interested in volunteering as an ambassador at Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park will have their chance next month.
A required training session for anyone looking to become an ambassador will be held March 14 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Dutchess County Law Enforcement Center in Poughkeepsie. Participants must register beforehand at walkway.org/training.
Ambassadors serve as tour guides, greeters, and provide information to visitors during peak hours on the walkway.
Each ambassador is required to work 35 volunteer hours a year with 16 hours served staffing one of the merchandise pavilions, according to a release from the Friends of the Walkway organization. Those in good standing will be permitted to attend select field trips to other state parks and historic sites, and take part in continuing education seminars.
