ULSTER – A 37-year-old Kingston woman was hurt in a crash that closed down Route 9W for about two hours Tuesday afternoon.

Town of Ulster police said the woman, whose name they did not release, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet north shortly after 2:30 p.m. when she drove onto the east shoulder. She struck a guard rail and then an earthen embankment, which caused her vehicle to go airborne.

Police said the Chevrolet then struck a utility pole and went down an embankment, where it came to rest.

The woman was taken to Albany Medical Center for evaluation. Police said the extent of her injuries was unknown. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

State police, the Ulster Hose and Glasco fire departments and Mobile Life Support Services assisted Ulster police at the scene.
