Lyndie and Rashad Kirk will distribute free masks at the Broadway Barbershop, 456 Broadway in Monticello where Rashad works, beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday.

They will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of one per person, until the supply is exhausted.

The Kirks began sewing face masks using material they had around their house to fill the quarantine time. They expanded their operation and output when family, friends and Lyndie’s co-workers at Keats Insurance donated funds to buy a sewing machine.

Meanwhile, Bob Siracusano, owner of Sawyer Motors in Saugerties, will distribute 5,500 medical-grade masks he purchased from a wholesaler from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at a drive-through event at Cantine Veterans Memorial Field.

He’ll also be handing out toilet paper.

Siracusano has not yet determined how many masks per car will be given away and said he will act in the moment and according to circumstances.
