KINGSTON – Ulster County Executive Patrick Ryan on Thursday announced the formation of a Recovery Task Force that will ensure a coordinated and compassionate response to the devastating social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tomasine Oliphant, director of the county Office of Employment and Training, will chair the seven-member task force, which will include other county leaders and members of non-profit and community groups.
“Prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, far too many families were already struggling, with four in 10 Ulster County residents living paycheck to paycheck,” Ryan said.
The task force’s first job will be to do a detailed analysis of existing and emerging needs, which will be compared to the available resources in county government and other key organizations that can partner with the county in the recovery. Then new programs and services will be developed to fill identified gaps and make sure all residents are served equitably.
