TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A Putnam County man was accused of stabbing another man on Stirrup Drive in the town’s Meadow Hill South neighborhood shortly after midnight Thursday.
Town police said responding officers found the victim, who was not further identified, with an apparent stab wound in his abdomen.
Information obtained by police led them to detain a man later identified as Gary Patterson, 26, of Garrison, who was walking in the area. Police said Patterson and the victim were acquainted with each other.
After further investigation, Patterson was taken into custody and charged with first- and second-degree assault, both felonies, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Patterson was arraigned and sent to Orange County Jail in lieu of $35,000 cash bail, pending a May 13 Town Court appearance.
