MIDDLETOWN - City police are warning the public that there has been a recent uptick in vehicle burglaries.
The Middletown Police Department has increased patrols in all neighborhoods and several arrests have been made, according to an emergency notice sent out to the community. Community members are warned to lock their car windows and doors, and remove keys and valuables from their parked vehicles.
“The majority of these crimes are crimes of opportunity, in which the perpetrators are accessing unlocked vehicles and removing property that has been left inside of the vehicle, out in plain view,” the department stated.
The Town of Mount Hope sent out a similar warning at the beginning of April. Contact the Middletown police at 343-3151 or the Mount Hope police department at 386-9442.
