Tell me, would you want to live in a country controlled by a single party? A country with no checks and balances because one party dominates the legislature, the executive and the courts? A country with a constitution in name only, one that is all but ignored? A country like China? Like Russia? Like Cuba? Like Serbia? Like Turkey?

Like it or not, you already do. Now that the Republican Party has taken hold of the Supreme Court in its death grip, all three branches of government are in their control. They wield unchecked power, but on whose behalf? Not on the behalf of the majority of Americans. Remember that Trump lost the popular vote by almost 3 million.

Is there anything to be done to restore checks and balances to our democratic system? Yes, Nov. 6 is Election Day. It may be the best - and perhaps the last - chance to exercise our right to choose representatives who will truly represent the will of the people - the majority of the people.
