How very sad and shameful to witness the rapid decline of my beloved Newburgh. City Hall has been a meaningful, beautiful flagship of Broadway for many decades. A landmark that is an invaluable resource to our community and a reminder of the glory that once was our city. Newburgh city government has neglected this precious historical treasure so badly that it has now deteriorated beyond repair. This deterioration has become the symbol of chronic abuse committed by this administration. The negligence of the former manager extends to the entire city. It will take years to recover from it.

The council is sorely ineffective, showing complete irreverence to their responsibilities. It's time to sound the alarm that we are in the midst of unprecedented mismanagement. Michael Ciaravino presented a forged budget to the council and was then allowed to mosey out of his position on his own terms, without any consequences. He will now be rewarded for his failures by receiving a large severance package. I'm sorry, if there is solid evidence of serious discrepancies regarding absenteeism as was reported in the media, where is the accountability and transparency on this expenditure?

I have had it with Councilwoman Karen Mejia and Mayor Harvey steering this ship down a river of don't ask - don't tell. I no longer authorize the misuse of my tax dollars! Use that severance money to fix City Hall, and then fix this broken-down machine.
