In March, Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the American Medical Association sued President Trump to stop his dangerous Title X gag rule, which threatens the health care of 4 million people in our nation’s program for affordable birth control and reproductive health care. Two federal judges recently ruled against the administration, entering nationwide preliminary injunctions in our challenge (alongside 23 attorneys general).

If Trump's unethical gag rule is implemented, the most vulnerable in our communities - low-income women and people of color - would be blocked from accessing essential health care services like wellness exams, cervical and breast cancer screenings, birth control and STD treatment. The "gag" rule would also force medical providers to withhold information about safe, legal abortion from their patients - even if the patients ask about abortion care.

A patient's health should come first. How dare the president manufacture dangerous, horrific lies about abortion later in pregnancy for his own political benefit? Equally alarming is his administration's new "conscience objection" rules allowing health care workers to deny care to patients based on their personal and religious beliefs. As our champions in the House prepare to pass an appropriations bill protecting Title X, Hudson Valley residents should contact their members of Congress and thank them for standing with us on the right side of history.
