Cornwall, Monroe-Woodbury and Wallkill were named School of Excellence award winners by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Thursday.
Schools need to have at least 75 percent of their varsity teams receive the scholar-athlete team award to be recognized.
Twenty-three of Cornwall’s 25 varsity programs received scholar-athlete team awards: football, boys soccer, girls soccer, boys cross country, girls cross country, volleyball, girls swimming and diving, girls tennis, boys basketball, girls basketball, wrestling, boys indoor track, girls indoor track, boys swimming and diving, boys alpine skiing, girls alpine skiing, cheerleading, baseball, softball, boys track, girls track, girls lacrosse and boys tennis.
Monroe-Woodbury had 24 scholar-athlete teams and twenty of Wallkill teams were honored for the 2017-18 season. NYSPHSAA also recognized the Mid-Hudson Athletic League’s Roosevelt and Spackenkill as School of Excellence winners.
