SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE (Yankees) 10, TOLEDO (Tigers) 5
TOLEDO, Ohio -- Mike Ford homered and singled, driving home two runs as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders topped the Toledo Mud Hens 10-5 on Friday.
Trey Amburgey doubled and singled with a pair of runs and a couple of RBIs for Scranton/WB.
Scranton/WB started the scoring in the second inning when Brad Miller hit a two-run home run.
The RailRiders later added three runs in the third, two in the sixth, and three in the seventh to secure the victory.
Scranton/WB right-hander Adonis Rosa (1-0) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing five runs on 10 hits over 6 2/3 innings. Opposing starter Drew VerHagen (0-1) took the loss in the International League game after allowing five runs and six hits over two innings.
Victor Reyes doubled and singled twice, scoring a run and also driving one home for the Mud Hens.
Class AA Eastern League
TRENTON (Yankees) 6, BINGHAMTON (Mets) 2
TRENTON, N.J. -- Hoy Jun Park hit a run-scoring single in the fourth inning, and Gosuke Katoh singled twice as the Trenton Thunder beat the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 6-2 on Friday.
The single by Park scored Brandon Wagner to give the Thunder a 4-2 lead.
The Thunder added to their lead in the eighth when Park hit a two-run single.
James Reeves (3-0) got the win in relief while Binghamton starter Chris Mazza (0-2) took the loss in the Eastern League game.
High-Class A Florida State League
DAYTONA (Reds) 8, TAMPA (Yankees) 6
TAMPA, Fla. -- Drew Mount and Randy Ventura scored on an error in the eighth inning to help the Daytona Tortugas secure an 8-6 victory over the Tampa Tarpons on Friday.
The error gave the Tortugas a 7-6 lead.
The Tortugas tacked on another run in the ninth when Jose Garcia hit an RBI double, bringing home Andy Sugilio.
Andy Cox (1-0) got the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while Greg Weissert (2-1) took the loss in the Florida State League game.
Several Tarpons chipped in at the plate, as five players collected at least two hits.
