KINNELON -- For the second straight week, Hunter Nolan made a game-winning kick to help Wallkill Valley survive.
On Friday night, Nolan made a 21-yard field goal as time expired to give the Rangers a 38-35 win over Kinnelon in an unexpected shootout. The Colts had previously scored just seven points all year.
Wallkill Valley’s defense stepped up in the fourth quarter with a shutout as the Rangers trailed 35-28. Alex Mastroianni blocked a punt in the fourth and Ivan Hicks had an interception.
Mastroianni passed for 86 yards and a touchdown and ran for 171 yards and three touchdowns. Ben Mizeski ran 17 times for 109 yards and a touchdown in addition to four catches for 46 yards.
Wallkill Valley never led until the final whistle as it kept its unbeaten season alive.

Sparta 27, West Morris 21
CHESTER -- Sparta had a huge comeback with a 20-0 fourth quarter advantage to stun West Morris in a 27-21 road win on Friday.
Austin Castorina led the charge with 19 carries for 108 yards and two touchdowns to go along with four catches for 40 yards. He accounted for 56 of those rushing yards on the game-winning drive in which he touched the ball on eight of the nine plays.
Freshman quarterback Austen Frattura threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns while completing 13-of-22 passes and never wavered with a big deficit. A sack by J.J. Valentin and a fumble recovery by Joe Batton helped set up the offense in the fourth quarter.

MOUNT OLIVE -- Caleb Rippey recorded his second of two interceptions in the end zone to seal the game for Jefferson as Mount Olive was going for a game-tying score. The Falcons hung on for a tremendous 28-21 road win on Friday.
David Hanna caught 107 of Matthew Johnson’s 206 passing yards on six catches. Michael Gould ran for two scores for the Falcons. Jefferson Felter and Keith Ferguson were all over the field with 15 tackles each. Felter also caught an interception, while Ferguson recorded two sacks and forced a fumble.
Jefferson is 3-0 for the first time since 2016, which was Jerry Venturino’s first season as Falcons head coach.

HAMPTON -- Jacob Mafaro ran 11 times for 146 yards with three touchdowns and had a receiving score in Kittatinny’s 45-6 home win over Hopatcong on Friday.
Brycen Mafaro added 99 yards on the ground and Ty Eldred had 60 yards and a touchdown. Kittatinny led 31-0 at halftime.

ROCKAWAY -- Collin Andriola carried 25 times for 113 yards for Vernon in a 43-21 loss on the road at Morris Hills on Friday.
Zack Waschek ran for two scores and passed for 167 yards. Aden Moskovitz caught six passes for 59 yards.

Newton 34, Whippany Park 7
WHIPPANY -- Takeo Sibblies had a career-high 114 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries as Newton picked up its first win of the year, 34-7, at Whippany Park on Friday night.
Jack Young added 101 yards and two touchdowns on the ground for the Braves while also leading the defense with six tackles and an interception. Ryan Papas recorded an interception that he returned 45 yards for a touchdown.
Newton scored 34 unanswered points in the win.

LIVINGSTON -- The Lions scored two touchdowns in each of the first two quarters and rolled to their first win of the season, 41-0, against Livingston on Friday night on the road.
Pope John received rushing touchdowns by Sawyer Tantleff, Tyler Zummo and Jarelle Robinson before Mike DeNucci closed out the first half with a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown.
It was the Lions’ first shutout since Sept. 24, 2015, when they took down Parsippany Hills by an identical score line. They are now 1-3 on the season.
Pope John will now have a bye week in Week 4 after being the lone area team to open the season in August.

HACKETTSTOWN -- Jason Kuehner ran for 115 yards with two touchdowns on 14 attempts and made 11 tackles on defense for Hackettstown in a 36-20 loss to Madison at home on Friday.
Zeb Burke ran for 55 yards and a touchdown and Alejandro Castro added 80 yards rushing. Hackettstown is still searching for its first win of the season.

WANTAGE -- The Wildcats broke through for their first win in their home opener, taking down North Warren, 28-0, on Friday night at High Point High School.
Travis Tallamy led High Point with two scores and 102 yards rushing on 24 attempts. Quarterback Alex Buchwald ran for 25 yards and a touchdown and connected with Connor Lake for a 28-yard passing touchdown.
High Point (1-2) will look to get back to .500 when they travel to face Newton next Friday. North Warren (1-2) will look to do the same at home against Kittatinny.
